Spring is Finally Here!

Spring is in the air!

What better way to celebrate the season than by exploring all that Ellwood City, Pa and other communities such as Zelienople has to offer! From outdoor adventures to cultural experiences, there is something for everyone to enjoy in these small Western PA towns and the surrounding area.

One of the best ways to embrace the weather is by taking a hike in some of the areas many parks. Ewing Park is close with a nature trail that takes you along the beautiful Connoquenessing Creek. Brush Creek Park is also close to us with 3 1/2 miles of scenic hiking trails as well as 10 picnic areas, a covered bridge and a lake available for fishing. Interested in waterfalls? Just check out Buttermilk Falls with a short walk from the parking area. Enjoy these areas of lush greenery and peaceful atmosphere. Enjoy a packed lunch and spend the day at one of these hidden gems.

If you’re more of a history buff, be sure to check out the Ellwood City Area Historical Society. Located in the heart of town, this museum showcases the rich history of Ellwood City and the surrounding area. From exhibits on the towns’s industrial past to displays on local sports heroes, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Interested in the history of the neighboring town of Zelienople? Founded in 1802 by Dettmar Base, who purchased 10,000 acres of Depreciation Lands named the town after his daughter, Zelie. Can you pronounce Zelienople correctly?

For a taste of the local culture be sure to visit both Ellwood City’s and Zelienople’s quaint shops and boutiques. From handmade jewelry to unique home decor items there is no shortage of treasures to be found in these charming towns. And of course, no visit wold be complete without sampling  some of the delicious local cuisine.
